Convenience stores and forecourt canopies completed in December 2014

A selection of projects completed in December 2014 includes the BP and Marks & Spencer branded Service Stations in Oakham in Rutland and Wilmslow in Cheshire.

At Oakham Global-MSI supplied the 290m2 (3,120 sq.ft.) C-Store that consists of a steel frame, composite wall & roof cladding, and the aluminium fascias & soffits. Global-MSI also supplied the non-standard 4-island canopy. The 8 cranked columns provide an unusual feature to the mono-pitched canopy covering the startergate forecourt arrangement.

At the Wilmslow site, Global-MSI supplied a 247m2 (2,660 sq.ft.) C-Store. Global-MSI was responsible for the steel frame, composite wall & roof cladding, M&S and Wild Bean Café feature ‘towers’, the front awning and soffit, the glazed shopfront with automatic entrance doors, security shutter and pedestrian side-access door. Global-MSI also supplied the 4-island BP forecourt canopy.

Global-MSI design that comprises a structural steel frame and composite roof & wall cladding envelope, provides significant advantage over traditional construction methods. Construction time is reduced, which allows the internal fit-out to commence earlier leading to a shorter overall programme, and therefore an earlier return on investment. The installation of these materials is unaffected by cold winter weather which will often stop brick/block laying. From finished concrete slab at Wilmslow, Global-MSI installed the steel frame, roof & wall cladding in just 10 days. This provided a weather-tight envelope in less than 2 weeks, something that would have not been possible with traditional materials. At Oakham similar programme durations were achieved.
